The Idea
Successful program management goes beyond methodology. Having someone on the team
who has “been there, done that” significantly improves the likelihood of critical
programs being successful. After almost thirty years of consulting, buying, selling,
delivering and implementing projects within the telecommunications industry, I have
seen most of the “Tricks of the Trade” being applied, for better or for worse.
Key Competencies
Over the years I have developed and acquired a set of key competencies which are
invaluable for successful program delivery.
- Thirty years experience within IT including twenty-five in the telecommunications
industry
- Deep understanding of the business case value drivers behind large transformational
projects (project C-suite relevance), particularly in the telecommunications industry.
- While having a very keen eye for detail, never looses sight of the big picture.
- An excellent communicator who thrives in translating complex requirements, solutions
and concepts into easily understandable language.
- Specialised in the design and management of traditional and Next Generation telecommunications
based services and of wireline and wireless communications networks.
- Extensive insight into the role and influence of consulting and service companies
in the telecommunications industry
- Partner management (software & hardware vendors)
- An extremely strong motivator and leader of people
- End-to-end Architectures including Process, Organisation and Enterprise Architectures
for transformational projects (ServCo/NetCo/VASCo)
- Strong sales and delivery track record of Business Consulting, System Integration
and Outsourcing projects within Europe and North America.
- Global responsibility for market offerings (products) including definition, marketing
and delivery.
- A global network of executives within Telco product vendors (ISV), Network Equipment
Manufacturers and telecommunications companies.
When these competencies are applied appropriately to the five major components of
program and project management (Planning, Execution, Asset Management, Value Management
and Closing), the likelihood of success is significantly increased. The program
stakeholder and the project implementers are combined with a common understanding
of what success means and what it takes to achieve it.
